DEPARTMENT OF HORTICULTURE

Present day Horticulture is defined as the Science of growing & management of fruits, vegetables including tubers, ornamental, medicinal & aromatic crops, spices, plantation crops, their processing, value addition & marketing.


Department of Horticulture with three faculty members offer the following courses for  B.Sc.Hons(Ag.)

Apart from the above courses, the faculty members act as module leaders of Rural Agricultural Work Experience Programme offered by the   Department of Agricultural Extension.


The Department has infrastructure facilities such as UG laboratory, crop museum of fruit plants and medicinal plants. One externally aided project entitled 'Establishment of Small Nursery Unit of Medicinal Plants', funded by State Horticultural Mission, Kerala, is being implemented with an outlay of Rs.4.00 lakhs. Advices are given on cultivation aspects of various horticultural crops to farmers and entrepreneurs, in person & through phone calls. Faculties act as resource persons for agricultural seminars, training programmes organized by Regional Agricultural Technology Training Centre, Taliparamba & Radio talks hosted All India Radio, Kannur.
